Unexpected dynamic woman turned out to be Greek

It was a rainy day in Denmark, and the weather changed every two hours, which, unsurprisingly, meant our moods were changing just as rapidly. The first two hours of sunshine would have me daydreaming about where to enjoy the sunny day, only for the next two hours to bring clouds and rain, reminding me that I indeed live in Denmark. In Denmark, this is a called a “normal day”. So, I thought, "Let’s get to work, save some money, and plan a vacation to Greece instead!"

It was one of these days, I received a call from my colleague and at the same a good friend of mine, who excitedly informed me about a techno event happening in town. And guess what? The first day was free! Free things? Yuhuu, Count me in! Even though the weather wasn’t his best mood, I agreed to join him. Originally, we planned to bike over, but then common sense kicked in: we were still in Denmark, after all, and the weather could turn on us in a heartbeat. It was too risky to bike; if it started raining, it would slash our moods to pieces. So, we decided to take my car instead.

I picked him up, and wouldn’t you know it? The moment we got in, it started pouring! Without even say “Hi” to each other, we jumped straight into a conversation about the weather and how lucky we felt to have a car.

Our lucky streak continued when we arrived at the event. To our disbelief, we found a parking spot right in front of the door—and it was free! In Denmark? Free parking? No way! We kept asking our-selves, “Is this for real? Should we double-check?” Just then, a girl approached us with a red heart-shaped umbrella. We hear her saying “Relax, boys, it’s free parking—join the party!”, and we thought for a moment she was some kind of doorman. We thanked her and made a run for the entrance as the rain picked up; it felt less like rain and more like someone was spitting on us!

Inside, we could not believe in our eyes. People were dancing on tables, girls in white were pouring champagne into glasses, and the atmosphere was electric. My friend looked at me and said, “Look at where I brought you!” We both started laughing.

At some point, I went to the bar to grab us drinks. While waiting, a shadow approached. “Hey, I’m Tsachpiniara. Are you enjoying the party?” At that moment, I instantly recognized her as the girl who had welcomed us outside. I felt a bit silly—after her friendly greeting, we hadn’t even said thank you, probably because we were intimidated by her “body-guards.” Still, I decided to play it cool and said, “Hi.” Suddenly, she started speaking Greek to me, and I thought, “What the heck? How did you know?”. It’s a small world, she said. Who would have expected to meet someone out of nowhere like this?

“You two looked like you were screaming Greek!” she said. I laughed and said: “Sorry about that!” She shot back, “What are you sorry about? Let’s dance!” Before I could even process it, I found myself on the dancing floor.

From the moment we started, I realized she was an energetic and passionate woman. As I moved to the music, my mind raced with questions for her—seriously, I had 25 burning questions in just five seconds! But ultimately, I blurted out most of them and I asked her the most stupid question: “What brought you here?” At that point, I thought maybe I should just shut up and keep dancing.

Between, a 10 minute prior at the bar, I had a conversation with my friend about her saying how Greek she looked. But I was not 100% convinced by then.

Now, after dancing, she brought over her friends. Thank goodness they weren’t bodyguards after all—they were just her friends, and they were super friendly! As we chatted, we were all swept away by her infectious energy. Her gestures and enthusiasm screamed Greek, and I couldn’t help but wonder about her zodiac sign and where she got all that energy. Finally, I mustered the courage to ask. When she told me she was an Aries, and she said: “Oh, so you’re one of those!”. I laughed and I thought, “Great, what a genius questions idiot.” But now it made all sense even though she didn’t think it matches here personality. But clearly embodied that Aries spirit.

As the party was coming to an end and it was time to say our goodbyes, she mentioned that she doesn’t party often but when she does, she needs a week to relax—like a massive bomb dropping and need more than a week clean up the damage.

I can’t wait to see what surprises await us when we see her next time!
