It had been a while since I’d been talking to her about where our next trip could be. With Christmas approaching, I didn’t have any special plans between Christmas and New Year. We were messaging back and forth about what to do and which countries were cheap and easy to visit for a weekend. She suggested that Budapest might be a good option and found some cheap flight deals. I also found affordable flights to get there. The flight was only about 1 hour and 20 minutes so it was pretty fast to get there.
We decided to book our tickets. She looked up hotels in the city and found an amazing one in the heart of Budapest, including breakfast. At first, it was surprisingly hard to believe how cheap it was. Maybe she got lucky because she booked it just a week before our trip. The funny part was that, besides being very cheap, the hotel also offered a free taxi from the airport.
We arrived at the Budapest airport almost at the same time, coming from different destinations. I was the first to come out and waited for her at the exit. I never imagined she would appear wearing the exact outfit I had always admired on a woman – tight blue jeans with cuts at the knees, black high heels, a white T-shirt, and a small leather jacket. For a moment, I couldn’t believe it was her. When she approached me and said “hi,” my legs started shaking, and I couldn’t find the words to speak. She took my hand and hugged me, and in that moment, I felt the true beauty of love deep in my heart.
Then, she messaged the hotel, and they immediately sent a taxi for us. We kept wondering how it could be true that the taxi was free. I couldn’t stop myself and asked the driver if it was already paid for, and he said yes – though I’m not sure he understood everything I was asking as he didn’t speak English very well. Still, we couldn’t shake the thought that we might end up paying for it at the hotel when we checked out.
Finally arrived to the hotel. The taxi dropped at the hotel just in front of the red carpet. She was amazed and at the same time got very shy on walking on a red carpet with her sport shoes. I told her, “babe, it doesn’t matter what you wear, you are beautiful as the way you are”. Her heart beats increased and she hold my hand and squeezed so hard that almost my blood circulation on my hand stopped and she told me “having you next to me, I can also walk on fire” and she game a kiss. A nice lady welcomed us at the reception and she told us how lucky we are today because they offered us the best room in the hotel with the beast view. Things were getting surprisingly exiting and at the same time she got so emotionally attached. I could in her eyes happy tears and amazing smile looking at me and saying “being with you is the most amazing thing ever happened to me”. We got the key and hit towards the elevator because the room was on the 5th floor and I didn’t want to waste my energy to carry the baggage’s on the stairs instead saved it for amazing moments that I was going to with this amazing woman.
We entered the room and couldn’t believe our eyes. There was a bottle of champagne, a variety of fruits, and a small welcome letter. We looked at each other, wondering if we had just arrived in paradise or if we were dreaming. She sat on the sofa, grabbed the champagne, and said, “My love, will you help me open the champagne, please?” I smiled and replied, “My pleasure, my love.”
As I poured the champagne, I said, “I’m toasting to your health and all the amazing moments I’ll share with you for the rest of my life.”
She smiled and said, “Come lie on my lap.”
I asked, “Am I going to get some special treatment?”
She replied, “Yes. Just lie down and close your eyes.”
I rested my head on her lap and closed my eyes. She gently stroked my face and hair, saying, “Relax and enjoy this moment. Leave all your worries behind and think about the day we met and our first kiss.” I felt so light and calm, as if I were floating. My heart slowed, and I felt completely at peace. That night felt like a dream I didn’t want to end.
She said, “I don’t want to go out tonight. Let’s just enjoy this perfect moment together. But if you want, we can take a short walk.” She smiled warmly.
I replied, “I enjoy every moment with you, no matter what we do.”
The night passed as we gazed into each other’s eyes, drank champagne, exchanged compliments, and lived in the moment. We went to bed early, knowing we had a full day of exploring ahead.
The next morning, I noticed sunlight peeking through the curtains. I turned to see her still sleeping, facing me. For a moment, I held my breath – she looked like an angel. Her hair partly covered her face, and as I gently brushed it aside, I thought to myself, What did I do to deserve someone so incredible? I feared waking up and discovering it was all a dream.
As I watched her sleep, lost in thought, she slowly opened her eyes. She said, “No one touches me the way you do, no one looks at me the way you do, and no one makes me feel as special as you do.” Then she kissed me, closed her eyes, and held my hand.
After enjoying a nice breakfast, we decided to visit some of Budapest’s most famous museums. When we arrived at one, we were met with a long line stretching over 100 meters. I looked at her and saw the disappointment in her eyes. I knew I had to do something.
She turned to me and said, “I don’t need to go inside. It doesn’t matter what we do or where we go, as long as I’m with you.” Her words left me speechless. I stood there, wondering if this was really happening to me. Finally, I said, “Thank you for your kind words. I’m enjoying every moment with you too, but I also want us to have new experiences and explore a different culture together.”
As we were talking, a guard overheard us and seemed visibly moved. He walked over and said, “I’ve never seen a couple so in love, so understanding, and so kind to each other. I have a VIP entrance. Please, come with me.”
She squeezed my hand, and we both were stunned. We smiled and said, “Thank you so much. That’s incredibly kind of you!” Moments later, we were inside, grateful for the unexpected kindness.
After a long walk through the museum, we were tired and hungry. Just around the corner, we found a cozy restaurant known for its Hungarian cuisine – a perfect chance to try something local.
When we entered, we had to wait at the entrance for a table. A server approached us and said, “You are the most beautiful couple I’ve seen today. For such a special couple, I have a special place.” He led us to a cozy corner by the fireplace.
“This spot is perfect, thank you,” we said.
He smiled and replied, “You are my special guests today. I’ll serve you the most incredible dishes we’ve prepared.”
We looked into each other’s eyes and smiled. She held my hand and said, “I’m the luckiest person in the world, sitting here with you, holding your hand.”
I replied, “And I’m the luckiest person in the world to have someone as loving and happy as you. This is everything I’ve ever wished for.”
That day, we returned to the hotel early because we had an early flight to catch. Her flight was very early in the morning, so she had to wake up even earlier. That night, we went to bed early to get some rest. When we lay down, she said, “Everything we shared, I will never forget.” I replied, “You are the most amazing person I’ve ever dreamed of. When I’m with you, when you touch me, when you look at me, I feel like I’m flying.”
The next day, she woke up early and left. She left behind a letter that said, “You are everything I dreamed of. See you soon!”and that was it.
She went back to Greece, and I went back to Denmark, back to our normal routines. But the time we spent together will always stay with us. It’s something we’ll never forget for the rest of our lives.
